Overview
The brief for Finiegenie was particularly intriguing. The founders aimed to fill a critical gap in children's education by introducing financial literacy, something typically not covered in schools. Rather than taking a conventional approach like video courses, their vision was to make learning about finance enjoyable and engaging through gamification. This included incorporating a trivia quiz format to make the learning process more dynamic and fun. The goal was to teach kids essential financial concepts while turning education into a playful experience. This innovative approach required us to think creatively and design an app that was both educational and entertaining.
Character Design
For Finiegenie, we designed a whimsical and mysterious genie character to serve as the app's mascot. This genie is not only friendly and approachable but also exudes wisdom, making it an ideal guide for children learning about finance. After exploring various design ideas, we crafted a character that perfectly balances charm and relatability. This character is central to the brand identity, helping to create a strong, memorable identity that resonates with the young audience.
UX/UI Design
We designed Finiegenie's experience to be both visually engaging for children and trustworthy for parents. We carefully considered two distinct personas in our design process: the parent, who wants to ensure a secure and educational experience for their child, and the child, who seeks a fun and engaging platform. To enhance the gaming experience and keep young users engaged, we incorporated music and sound effects, making the learning process even more immersive. The design is vibrant and playful, reflecting the app’s game-like environment while ensuring ease of use for both audiences. Accessibility and intuitive navigation were key priorities, ensuring that users can easily explore the app's features.

Branding
With the vibrant and playful nature of the Finiegenie character in mind, we decided on a minimalistic branding approach. The app features a bright and engaging color palette, reflecting its game-based learning environment. To complement the lively visuals, we chose a friendly, happy typeface that appeals to children. The branding strikes a perfect balance between fun and educational, making Finiegenie both inviting and effective in its mission to teach kids about finance.
